Fuck, was it blistering outside. Many of those who were unfortunate enough to be stuck with long sleeves were bound to roll them up. Less than a hundred feet from the nearest beach, Alexander Hope didn't prefer to be out in South City. In fact, it was approximately two months ago that he had last visited. To be frank: it didn't end well. However, as the calls waned and lessened: Alexander's escapades did not. Propping a parasol against his right shoulder, a trio of men stood in conversation. Conveniently enough, it was an oddly empty street, albeit the time being just before nine o'clock. One leaned against a brick building, the other was leisurely bent over a dumpster. The trio, including Alexander, were garbed far lighter than usual. Apparently, there was a heat wave around South City and Papaya Island. Regardless, a deal was being renewed. "Independent dealers don't get all of our benefits, Krof. You know this already." The one who was supporting himself via the structure spoke first. Evidently, he was the eldest of the two involved.
"And I'd be a helluva lot more in shape if ye did! Gotta spend a fuckton on meds, Lex, you know that." "Oh stuff that bullshit back down the drain, Krof. There were at least six reports of you hot off booze before five, and twice as much taking off your own stock -- which we deal you!" "We don' talk about your vices, do we?!" "That's not why I'm here, Krof. Sal's -- at the very least -- clean on the job!" Sal, upon being mentioned, rolled over across the dumpster. A groan escaped him. Meanwhile, the other dealer audibly scoffed. "That boy ain't right, Lex, lookit 'im." "Its also several hours before his rotation. Sal's running your night shifts, remember? You made him trade." "Puh! What's the problem with that?" "If you can't even handle the dawn-dusk rotation, we've got no business with you at the Hope House."
"Uh..." "Most of us know, despite your excuses and mishandling, you actually need that money. You'll get one chance, and you'll be wearing a monitoring camera while you're at it. If the feed gets disrupted at any time, it's your head." Shock crossed Krof's facial features. It seemed as though he either expected to be dead or not let off this kindly. Yet, nevertheless, he would swiftly push his luck. In truth, however, it was solely due to a lack of time to play 52 Body Pickup. There was just barely enough time for Alexander to sleep anymore. The Hope House had practically run East City before, now they took it upon themselves to legitimately run it. If that Ancient Saiyan catastrophe was good for one thing, the Father supposed. West City came with the trouble, as well. Regardless, it was time to stabilize. It was long after the House's recuperation, but many things were necessary. "Someone will come by the solder that camera onto you. Now piss off, both of you. Keep up the good work, Sal." Dismissing them both with a haphazard wave, the trio split paths from there. The Father, specifically, set out down the quiet street, swerving around a nearby corner. In hindsight, Alexander didn't have much faith in Krof, particularly as of late. Unfortunately, as big as the House gets, the bigger its problems become. Some things just never go away.
Surprise, its me Silica . I wonder if things have changed for you since last time.

-Ashen bloom carried on a midnight's breeze, gently across the empty street-
The prose fluttered across Silica's mind as the heady wind of South City's hair caressed her alabaster face. Her mind was free to it's own machinations as an unknown force pulled her through the barren alleyways and crossings. It had been some time since the incident, it was horrific what happened to the cities, populations cut into nothing without and real way to fix it.
A frown crept over her lips as she turned to the moon, watching the imperfect oval crawl it's way ever so slowly across the velveteen black sky, pin-pricks of stars clinging in sparse, almost taunting clusters.
"So the lights in the sky are our enemies now?", she absently spoke, not realizing her voice trailed down the street, echoing off the buildings bordering her on both sides.
Ever since her participation on that fateful day something had been itching at the back of her mind, like a long forgotten memory that she couldn't quite recall... in truth it was not the first time it had bothered her, but this time felt far, far worse than it ever had before.
Her footsteps trailed behind her, a reminder of the path the took down the empty street, towards a light source moving perpendicular to her path.

A light snap was audible, as if to beckon forth something. Reality, seemingly bending a knee to an unknown presence, brought the titular penguin Empy to the scene. The avian fuzzball plopped onto Alexander's shoulder from above. It appeared: from within the parasol, no less! Unblinking, as usual, the penguin secured its footing atop its "owner's" top-end joint. The Father provided a acknowledging glance. It was always good to see Empy. Of course, this was ignoring how peculiar it was for one such as it to be within the southern islands. Oh well. The streets, adjacent or otherwise, were evidently more populated than before. Strangers, the occasional performer, nighttime get-togethers, etc. The night life was approaching full-swing; albeit far more so beside the nearest beaches. Alexander sharply exhaled to himself. West City may never sleep due to its products and production, but South City seemed like the exact opposite. Good thing there was an auxiliary Hope House location out in these islands. In fact, as of late, the option was certainly more appreciated. Regardless, there was still work to do. A familiar mobile device was procured from Alexander's left pocket. With a meager swipe, a trio of overlapped windows surfaced. Leading himself into the outer portion of pathway, the Father had his parasol veered inwards, towards other pedestrians and overland vehicles. Empy was further secured, and so was this device's privacy. Well, to an extent. Gazing downwards some, detail was caught from his previously peripheral vision. A cramped messaging window was alight with conversation. Several family members were still idle at this time; yet, meanwhile, numerous Soldier ranks (and "vendors") kept to the night shift, actively. Once upon a time, it was a luxury the House would practice. These days: there was no choice in the matter. Patrols and surveillance was mandatory. Any lingering Ancient Saiyans could be anywhere! Suddenly, Alexander's vision shifted. Flickering flames of life were revealed to the Father; akin to an overlay. From merely glancing away from his cell phone, however, a familiar visual impeded upon his vision. It was a seemingly similar size as it was when Lex last laid eyes on it. Peeking to and fro, the safer assumption was to be it was Silica. A one Silica Dyer, to be exact. Intriguing. What could she be doing here? At this time, at that?
In the dark of night, one may come to think of one question: "who dat?"

To accompany the soft, echoed steps of her feet as she strode along the street the young silver haired woman began to hum, a gentle tune that occupied her in the dark night bound breeze.
She had always enjoyed this city, unlike East City, the climate here was far more forgiving and gave birth to some of the most beautiful plant life she had come across on the planet, one day she hoped to see the remainder of what Earth had to offer in the horticultural life sense.
The light source she had seen moments before drove closer as Silica turned the corner. Perhaps the quiet night would become something less of the sort as she pulled herself closer, driven in part by rampant curiosity.

Alexander's curiosity was promptly interrupted by a raucous fit of vibrations. Slowing his pace to assess the ruckus, the messaging window erupted in additional conversation. Granted, it wasn't anything particularly profound. A sharp, chuckling exhale exited the Father's nostrils. Dumbasses. Grasping his mobile device, another jitter blended in with the phone's jostling. Lex muttered to himself as he began swiping to and fro. "Love to remind them that this is public some days."The messages were indeed open to the remainder of the House, albeit the network itself was far too encrypted to be considered "public". Nonetheless, the screenshot worth a fruitful reaction was cropped, saved, and preserved for later.
Anyway, where was he? Oh, yes, Silica. Their previous encounter ended somewhat... abruptly. With any luck, this time around would be less fruitless. More fortunate, now that they're acquainted, yes? Then again, these days were rather busy. Perhaps Miss Dyer had her own sudden tribulations to overcome recently. Just as Alexander was bound to leave the young woman well enough alone, a street sign caught his eye. Actually, never mind that. It was just Lizard Street. Just good old, perfectly normal -- Wait a minute. Alexander's eyes grew wide. Evidently undergoing a double-take in the process. Lizard Street?! As Silica began to venture beyond its furthest corner, a figure once perpendicular to her leapt! An exaggerated bound navigated both the Father and his perpetual penguin partner across the street. Empy somewhat clawed into its "owner's" shoulder as they both plummeted. Barely diminished in weight via the common parasol, however, the duo descended nearby without much delay. Touching down just within the sidewalk boundary, Alexander approached in a haste. "Hey!"Alexander attempted to clasp a palm upon Silica's right shoulder. Regardless of any potential success, however, he continued. "You'd best not head down that road. Lizard Street has a reputation for a reason!"
I know, took me long enough, right Silica ? Let's get something rolling, on that note.

Almost absent-minded from her surroundings and keeping a playful gait as she strode down teh poorly lit rode, Silica's mind snapped into place with a conjunctive click as she heard a disconcertingly familiar voice. It was one she had not heard in some time and she knew too well that there was some... unresolved business between her and this particular individual.
Turning swiftly on her heels, the pale haired young woman shifted to face down the pathway the voice rang from and saw the conspicuously dressed man with an ego to boot. "If it isn't the godfather himself.", Silica would reply with a teasingly sadistic smirk, attempting, if a little fruitlessly, to strike at one of Alexander's nerves.
"From the tone in your voice, you make it sounds like I'm better off taking a stroll through the bog during dinosaur mating season.", Silica's voice rose to an almost mocking level.
Leaning back against a nearby wall, she patiently awaited a reply, passing the occasional glance down the adjacent road she was so warned about.
